Halimun Mountain National Park

Halimun montain is a representative ecosystem types lowland rain forest, sub-montane forest and montane forest in Java. Almost all forests in national parks are located in mountainous terrain with few rivers and waterfalls, which is the protection of hydrological functions in Bogor Regency, Lebak, and Sukabumi.

Some plants that dominate the forests in the Mist Mountain National Park, among others Rasamala (Altingia excelsa), jamuju (Dacrycarpus imbricatus) and puspa (Schima wallichii). About 75 species of orchids found in this national park and some types of which are rare species such as Bulbophylum binnendykii, B. angustifolium, ensifolium Cymbidium, and Dendrobium macrophyllum.

Hazy Mountain National Park is the habitat of several species of mammals such as gibbons (Hylobates moloch), deer (Tragulus javanicus javanicus), surili (Presbytis Comata Comata), ebony leaf monkey (Trachypithecus auratus auratus), deer (Muntiacus muntjak muntjak), leopard (Panthera pardus weld), and coyotes (Cuon alpinus javanicus).

There are approximately 204 species of birds and 90 kinds of them are settled and 35 bird species endemic to Java, including Java eagle (Spizaetus bartelsi). In addition there are two bird species that is endangered bird CICA sun (Crocias albonotatus) and birds poksai horse (Garrulax rufifrons). Javanese eagle emblem is identical with the state of (eagle), quite often found in the Mist Mountain National Park.

With a wet climate, this national park is the fountain of several rivers that flow is never dry all year, and eight beautiful waterfalls and the potential for nature tourism activities / recreation.

Communities surrounding the national park is a traditional society Kasepuhan. Society has a very unique pattern of life and wisdom in managing the forest area around it for decades.

Cultural attractions around the park a seren Year ceremony in July. The ceremony was held at Kasepuhan Banten Kidul with traditional art performances, ranging from art which is endangered, such as whistle, big angklung until Sunda other arts.

The best visiting season: June to August each year.

How to reach the location: Bogor / Sukabumi-Parungkuda-Kabandungan, 50 km (± 1.5 hours), Bogor-Cisangku, 50 km (± 2.5 hours), Rangkasbitung-Bayah-Ciparay, 186 km (± 6 hours).
